Is BPI Right for Me?
When is BPI the appropriate approach to redesigning a process? The following questions
may help you decide. You may also wish to use our "Is BPI the right approach?" worksheet.
Consider using BPI in situations at MIT where
- New challenges arise that require reevaluation and redesign of existing processes
or policies
- A current service or product no longer meets identified needs
- There are obvious inefficiencies, frequent breakdowns, or other indicators that
a process needs to be improved
- A new service of product is being introduced
- It would be helpful to have a structured framework to manage complexity
- It is necessary or desirable to create a process map and/or operations manual that
reflects current best practices
